In der Sonderausstellung »Schlösser. Preußen. Kolonial.« kommen nicht nur Wissenschaftler*innen zu Wort. In Kurzführungen stellen die Ausstellungsmacher*innen Arbeiten von Künstler*innen und Wortmeldungen vor, die das Thema erlebbar machen, um andere Sichtweisen erweitern und zum Nachdenken anregen.

Königin Luise (1776 – 1810) wird eine schöne Stimme nachgesagt. Sie schätzte das Sololied wie auch den Chorgesang und spielte Gitarre, Harfe und Klavier. Beim Rundgang durch die Schlossräume im Neuen Flügel spricht Schlossleiter Rudolf G. Scharmann über die musikalischen Vorlieben der beliebten Königin und stellt ihr Hammerklavier vor.

Königin Sophie Charlotte (1668 – 1705) war musikalisch begabt und spielte Cembalo. Sie holte Komponisten an ihren Hof, die ihre Vorlieben für Kammermusik und Musiktheater teilten. Beim Rundgang durch das Alte Schloss erweckt Schlossleiter Rudolf G. Scharmann ihren »Musenhof« zum Leben und führt zu den Musikinstrumenten der Königin.

In the representative State Apartments and living rooms of Prussia’s first royal couple, steles draw our attention to colonial connections we might otherwise miss. Magnificence and arrogance, fascination with and ideas of the Other, trade and exploitation, were all close bedfellows.

This special exhibition sheds light on traces of colonialism in the palaces and gardens and shows how its impact can still be felt today. It centres on the lives of Black people at court and the collection and interpretation of works of art from outside Europe. Academics, actors and artists provide multiple perspectives on this multi-faceted topic.
