Guided tour for Chinese-speaking audiences by independent artist and art mediator WANG Weiqi. The exhibition is about the practice of foot binding in China, about beauty norms and social constraints, about the European view of women with bound feet, and what colonialism has to do with it.

Kurator*innenführung durch die Ausstellung, die Künstler*innen sind anwesend und geben Auskunft zu ihren Arbeiten. Es geht um die Praxis des Füßebindens in China, um Schönheitsnormen und gesellschaftliche Zwänge,um den europäischen Blick auf Frauen mit gebundenen Füßen und was der Kolonialismus damit zu tun hat.

UnBinding Bodies develops a contemporary approach to the Chinese practice of foot binding against the backdrop of colonial, gender, social, and science history. It shows objects from European museums and commissioned artworks by Zhang Gong, Mirae kate-hers RHEE and Zhang Rui.
