From Hand Axe to Smartphone

As always, there are comfortable chill-out deckchairs waiting for you in the museum courtyard with delicious food and the finest cocktails the Long Night has to offer. As soon as the sun goes down, our legendary summer cinema will start, showing some of Berlin’s cult music flicks of recent years like "Berlin Calling", "B-Movie" and "Status Yo!".

It’s time to shine with legendary moves! Challenge friends and strangers to a dance-off or guitar hero smackdown!

Woods and meadows, fields and pantries: come and make wonderful rainmakers, rattles, tubular bells and rhythm rolls from natural materials and play your favourite song on musical instruments inspired by nature.

A wild storm over the Spree, creepy footsteps coming from the TV Tower, a spaceship whizzing over Berlin at the speed of light – sound effects are what make radio plays come to life. With just a bit of pizzazz, the whole thing seems more real and lets you "see" the story with your ears. Come along and design some weird sounds with our Noise Box and then record you results for posterity.

Wheee! A roll of toilet paper can fly a long ways, like a rocket or a bouncy ball or an UFO, if you make it right. It makes a lot of noise, too, if you build it with our top-secret thingammyjig – add colours for maximum effect!

Der Chor der Statistik und seine Chorleiterin Bernadette La Hengst thematisieren städtische sowie gesellschaftliche Probleme und besingen Utopien über die Zukunft der Stadt wie auch ein Europa der Vielen. Singt in unserem Lichthof gemeinsam mit Ihnen gegen die herrschenden Verhältnisse und für eine bessere Zukunft für alle!

Über Geschmack lässt sich nicht streiten? Sie werden sich wundern! Begleiten Sie die Schauspieler*innen Florentine Schara und Daniel Frantisek Kamen auf ihrem Barbesuch quer durch die Ausstellung und genießen Sie die kleinen Streitereien über Kunst, Liebe, Demokratie, Medien und Geld. Eine szenische Führung durch die Ausstellung »Streit«.

Want to wear a temporary tattoo of one of our fighting animals, like the frenzied baboon or a racing snail? What about having a tiger on your arm roaring for a fight? Various different comic artists will be here to conjure these fascinating motifs on your skin. Goodbye pain, goodbye regret.

The Berlin Museum of Communication will be transformed into a wrestling arena where the potential for conflict within feminist discourse is fought out. The location is a wrestling ring in the museum’s courtyard of light, where the wrestlers will be putting on a fighting show with live commentary.

Our lives were changed suddenly in 2020 by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. A pandemic hit the world community. Decisions and steps to contain the pandemic had to be taken at short notice, then communicated and implemented, though they did not meet with acceptance everywhere: the general public and authorities alike had to deal with uncertainty and unease, concerns and even protest. This exhibition invites us to reflect on how each of us experienced communication during the pandemic and what conclusions can be drawn from that time to enable us to deal better with future crises.

"I don’t want us to argue." Most likely, we’ve all said or heard that sentence before. From earliest times, arguments have been an integral part of human communication. We experience them in our daily lives, in the media, as a commentary on political debates and social issues, in our social and private milieus, our families or relationships. The exhibition ARGUMENTS. An approach explores these encounters. Objects and stories tell of arguments over taste, appreciation, attempts to make amends or expectations – as part of a larger debate or on a very personal level.
